The Indigo Dyslexia Unit

Indigo Dyslexia Unit was established in January 2012 by The Free School Norwich in partnership with the Indigo Dyslexic Centre.

Dyslexia is very common, but often goes undiagnosed. It affects a person's ability to read, write and spell. Dyslexia is also a condition which relates to how the brain processes information. It has nothing to do with intelligence, but people with dyslexia have trouble expressing themselves on paper.

Teaching the right coping strategies and providing the right support can help a child with dyslexia to achieve their full potential at school.

The Free School Norwich Indigo Dyslexic Unit is open every Saturday from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm and after school during term time from 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm. It provides a low-cost, ten week programme of specialist tuition for dyslexic children aged 7-14. The Unit is also able offer advice to parents. Children do not need to be registered as pupils at The Free School Norwich to attend the unit.

The Indigo Dyslexia Unit also offers touch typing lessons for both dyslexic and non-dyslexic children. Lessons are suitable for children aged 7 years and over and are designed to be fun and enjoyable, using the latest cloud-based technology to help equip children with the IT skills needed for life in the 21st Century.
