Houses

The Free School Norwich is proud to have a house system that fosters a sense of belonging, healthy competition, and camaraderie among our students.

We have four houses, each named after birds with local associations. They are:

  • Woodpecker
  • Kingfisher
  • Marsh Harrier
  • Canary

Every child at our school is assigned to one of these houses, creating a supportive and cohesive community across year groups.

Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to earn house points for excellent progress and attainment. These points are awarded for academic achievements, as well as for demonstrating our core CU THRIVE values.

To encourage teamwork and leadership, each house is led by a House Captain who organizes various activities and competitions, allowing students to earn additional house points each term. This not only enhances their personal development but also strengthens their bonds as a house.

We hold an annual house sports day; a highlight event at the end of the summer term where students showcase their skills and compete for the Sports Cup.

At the end of each year, the winning house is awarded the House Cup, recognizing their overall achievements, teamwork, and commitment.

Our house system plays a vital role in providing a supportive and motivating environment for all. It fosters healthy competition, encourages personal growth, and creates a sense of pride and belonging that enriches their educational journey at The Free School Norwich.
